Nashville, Tenn. – February 14, 2008 – Nominations were announced today for the 39th Annual GMA Dove Awards (www.doveawards.com) the Gospel Music Association (GMA). Amongst newcomers leading the field alongside established artists, producers and songwriters, Midas Records band Rush Of Fools garnered an astounding four nominations in four major categories, including Song Of The Year: “Undo,” New Artist Of The Year, Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song Of The Year: “Undo” and Pop/Contemporary Album Of The Year: Rush Of Fools.
The recent award nomination builds on the group’s unprecedented musical achievements since its debut self-titled 2007 CD release. With a compelling artistry that embodies progressive worship, Rush Of Fools' evocative and engaging message of restoration and forgiveness has resonated deeply with today's passionate generation. The combination of relevant lyrics and distinct sound has contributed to the band’s growing fan base, being named “Best New Artist” in CCM magazine’s Readers’ Choice Awards, (which is currently published in the January 2008 issue of CCM magazine), “Best New Artist” in the ChristianityToday.com Readers’ Choice Christian Music Awards and one of the “Top 100 Christian Artists” by Myspace.com. Listed also as the second best-selling new artist of 2007, “The 700 Club” noted in a recent feature, that Rush Of Fools has made an "unprecedented mark on Christian music history in 2007."
Rush Of Fools consists of Wes Willis (lead vocals, electric guitar), Kevin Huguley (lead vocals, electric and acoustic guitar), Jacob Chesnut (bass, vocals), Jamie Sharpe (drums, vocals) and JD Frazier (electric guitar, keys, vocals). The band will be joining the Newsboys on the nationwide “Go” Tour. Visiting 40-50 cities nationwide, the tour kicks off on Friday, February 15, 2008.
The Dove Awards is Christian/Gospel music’s biggest night of the year, where top artists from every style of gospel music come together for a night of music and celebration as the GMA bestows the industry’s highest honor -- the Dove Award. This year’s nominations were announced at the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel by award-winning contemporary Christian singer/songwriter Michael W. Smith and Atlanta media personality and Gospel Music Channel’s Kitchen Sink host, Elle Duncan.
Dove statuettes will be handed out on April 23, 2008 at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville. The awards show will be televised in national syndication in May.
